August 2008

This is the 25th year Christian Fellowship School has offered Christian Education to the community and specifically to those willing to dedicate and commit to the noble task.

It is not an easy task. If it were easy there would be many more churches supporting and providing Christian Schools. Most genuine pastors and their congregations believe in the general philosophy of Christian Education. They believe it is good and right. But, there are very few pastors and congregations willing to engage in the work. Why? The answer, it is too hard. There are too many difficulties. As the Administrator of Christian Fellowship School, I can assure you that there are many difficulties. In fact, it is nearly impossible. Every year we receive news of one or more private Christian schools across the country having to make the difficult decision to close. It is desperately disappointing to those churches and school families when that happens.

Christian Fellowship Church, its pastor and congregation made a commitment 25 years ago to enter into this work. With God’s blessing, continued generous support from our congregation, guidance from the church leadership and dedication of our school families, Christian Fellowship School continues to provide the highest quality academic training. It is done in an environment that is clearly and distinctly Christian.

How is that possible? I believe it is because, from the beginning, after much prayer and counting the cost, the decision was made. It was not a decision to “give it a try and see how it goes” or “lets see what happens.” It was a decision to do it, to do it right, to do it when it was hard, to do it when difficulties made it seem impossible and when doubts whispered it was foolish and unwise.

So here we are 25 years later looking forward to the next 25 and working it out one day at a time. Thanks so much to the ones of you who have over these years given of yourselves to make this possible. There is no way to count the thousands of hours of volunteer labor that have been given to this place. It is not just the parents of our students, but grandparents, students, former students, church members and friends.  We serve a wonderful God. He sees all and remembers always every act of kindness, sacrifice, selfless giving and support. Every ounce given without any expectation of return, these all will be rewarded.

A couple weeks ago a group of volunteers descended upon the kitchen used by the church and the school. A donation of $2700 allowed us to go to an auction and purchase nearly everything we needed and the tireless work of this dedicated group transformed the kitchen. The kitchen no longer has dark brown cabinets on the wall and worn dirty tiles on the floor. The floor is new bright ceramic tile, the shelves are stainless steel, the tables are stainless steel, and there is a deep 3-bay stainless steel sink. There is an impressive stainless steel professional dishwasher installed. The old stove is on the way out and brand new professional restaurant range with two ovens and six burners is on the way in, thanks to a generous parent. The walls were painted and new baseboard was put down. Some old electrical work was removed and some new replaced it. Soon, the new vent and hood system will be installed. If you have not seen the work, please check it out. Thanks again to everyone who helped in any way.

This is the reason CFS is still here. People, side by side with other people, grabbing hold of something bigger than anyone could grab alone and working together until the job is done. Check us out here on campus, check out the web site. Much is happening. It is good to be a CFS Eagle. With our whole heart we confess "Jesus is Lord

In His Service,

Bill Rowley
